Bulgarias Transport Ministry and Austrias Strabag have set the handover of Sofia Airport new terminal facilities by December 15, Bulgarias Transport Minister Petar Mutafchiev said.

The agreement came after lengthy negotiations, which ended with an agreement that renovated facilities be completed in two stages.

No change of terms are envisaged before completion. When ready, Strabag and the Transport Ministry will discuss indemnities the state will get for construction work delays and compensation Strabag wants for additional costs. The add-on costs are estimated at EUR 6 million.

Finalising work on the project was already extended several times. Additional problems arose with the collapse of part of the ceiling of the newly-built terminal.
