Austrias baked goods maker Wewalka opened a HUF 65 million (EUR 240,000) production line in Hungary, daily Napi Gazdasag reported. Wawelka will set up a logistics centre in Hungary and boost staff to 400 from the current 230. The company announced plans to invest several hundreds of millions of forints by 2008 to meet growing demand.
Wewalka, a medium-sized family company with main offices in Sollenau (30 km south of Vienna), has its core competence in producing fresh dough and pastries of the highest quality as well as in planning and realising projects with its trade partners.
Originally a production facility for egg-foam products, in recent years the company has developed into a competence centre for two of the most dynamic product groups within the international food trade: fresh doughs and pastries and fresh baked goods of high quality. The company reported a turnover of EUR 40 million in 2004.
