Spanish construction company FCC Construction wants to enter the Romanian real estate market, business daily Ziarul FInanciar has reported.The company has been present in Romania for two years, working on several infrastructure projects. It was also selected as one of the builders of the Basarab overpass in Bucharest, the most ambitious infrastructure project in the capital. "The Romanian real estate market is witnessing a boom, and the quality of construction is going to be essential in project development. This is why an increasing number of strong foreign building companies that have financial strength and expertise will arrive on the domestic market," said Alcibiades Lopez Ceron, FCC Construction manager for Europe. FCC is negotiating the construction of the Sun Plaza shopping centre, as well as a residential project of a Spanish investor. It also intends to take part in the tender for the Bucharest-Brasov highway, given its experience in building bridges and tunnels. Since the Spanish company controls 80.7 per cent in Alpine, the second-biggest construction company in Austria, it will cooperate on the Romanian market with the subsidiaries of the Austrian group.
