During the first nine months of 2006 , foreign investments in Croatia reached EUR 1.76 billion, almost reaching the numbers from the record EUR 1.78 billion recorded in 2003. Data from the last 14 years show that the biggest foreign investors in Croatian companies are Austria with EUR 2.95 billion, Germany with EUR 2.13 billion and France with EUR 1.16 billion.According to the latest data released by the National Bank of Croatia, FDI have reached EUR 13.15 billion in the period 1993-2006. In the first nine months of 2006, Croatia kept EUR 696 million of net profit, EUR 665.7 million of proprietary investments and another EUR 394 million of other investments, including trade credits, credits, currencies and deposits.    Despite the fact that on the overall scale Austria is the number one investor, in 2006 France has been the leading investor with EUR 1.02 billion invested in Croatia.
