Bulgarias power regulator will have to deal with a proposal from Austrias EVN to set seven new tariffs for electricity for households and industrial customers.

The Austrians operate the electricity distribution companies in Plovdiv and Stara Zagora.

At present, the customers are separated into three groups depending on the voltage.

EVN proposes that industrial customers which are directly connected to a substation to be charged the lowest rate.

If the proposal is approved, households and businesses using low voltage will pay the highest tariffs.

However, the authorities are said to be unwilling to discuss the proposal.
