The General Meeting of Shareholders of Romanian insurance company Omniasig has decided to change its name to Omniasig Viena Insurance Group, business daily Ziarul Financiar has reported.At the moment, Omniasig is one of the most important Romanian insurers, ranking third among non-life companies in terms of market share.
In 1995 Omniasig began its activity with a single branch and 12 employees. Today, as a member of one of the most important insurance groups in Central and Eastern Europe, Vienna Insurance Group, Omniasig has over 200 branches, agencies and sales points. It prides itself with a team of approximately 1,500 employees with labour contract and over 12,000 agents nation wide.
The company has a EUR 29.5 million share capital and handled gross underwritten premiums worth EUR 104 million in the first nine months of 2006.
